About Gerald R. Schultz, MD, FACS:

Dr. Schultz is on the staff of Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage and is the Chief of Ophthalmology at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. He has been on the staffs of Hi-Desert Medical Center where he had been president of the medical staff and JFK Hospital for over 30 years. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Dr. Schultz is a mentor to Desert Hospital neurology and emergency room residents who rotate through his offices on two to four-week stints. He has a special interest in ophthalmic genetics and anterior segment disease and surgery, subjects in which he has authored or co-authored journal articles and chapters in books. 

For the past 35 years, he has been a frequent visitor to India where he has lectured and conducted courses on his subjects of interest. Dr. Schultz was also an invited speaker at the world-renowned Fyodorov Eye Institute in Moscow, the Hebrew University Medical Center in Jerusalem, the Aravind and Sankara Nethralya Eye Institutes in India and the National Eye Institute in Bethesda. He also chaired the course in Ophthalmic Genetics at the World Ophthalmology Congress in Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Schultz also was a visiting professor at Chulalongkorn Medical Center in Bangkok. He is a recipient of the Gold Medal from the Bombay Ophthalmologists’ Association and the International Academy for Advances in Ophthalmology. Dr. Schultz has also been recognized as a Top Doctor by Palm Springs Life and Inland Empire Magazines.

Dr. Schultz is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
